What Services are Provided?


* Top quality medical care, health maintenance, education, risk assessment, and counseling

Services

  • Located regionally, the K-12 Integrated School Health Program and School Based Health Centers are accessed via the Health Services Advocates or Center staff at each site.
  • Each center is staffed on varying days with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Health Assistant, Health Services Advocate, Mental Health Professional or Child Development Specialist, and an Addictions Counselor.
  • Services provided include acute care for minor illnesses or injuries, immunizations, physical exams, mental health counseling, substance abuse counseling, child and family counseling, smoking cessation information, information and referrals on birth control, sexually transmitted diseases, and many other issues of concern to students.
  • Spanish translation services are available on a scheduled basis at Taft and Newport SBHC's.
  • Most medical services are free.
  • Mental Health and Addictions services are billable.
  • Students under age 15 must have signed parental permission to receive services, except for those services defined by state law which allow students of any age to receive care for sexually transmitted diseases and birth control information and services (ORS 109.641; 190.640).
  • State law also permits youth age 14 and older to seek mental health and alcohol and drug services without parental permission (ORS 109.675).
  • Students over age 15 may sign for themselves to receive all services at the SBHC's.
