Immunizations are provided at the Newport Public Health Clinic, the Lincoln
Community Health Center--Newport and Lincoln City and at various outreach clinics at schools.
Lincoln County Public Health offers immunizations (vaccines or "shots") for infants, children, and adults
in clinics in our three offices and School Based Health Centers. Vaccines protect your child against many
childhood diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, measles and many others.
Vaccine schedules are based on the school law. Shots are required by
that law for children who attend public and private schools, pre-schools, childcare facilities
and Head Start programs in Oregon. Nearly every place that provides care for a child outside the home
requires shots or a religious or medical exemption to stay enrolled.
New changes to that law require that kindergarten through 12th grade students be immunized against
Hepatitis A and that 7th graders receive a dose of TDAP before beginning school. Varicella immunizations are
also required for kindergartens and children entering first grade.
Costs for immunizations are based on costs of the vaccines and/or an administrative cost.
Most insurances including the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) are accepted.
Please check with your insurance company before making any appointments.
However, no one will be denied state supplied vaccines due to inability to pay.
Appointments are necessary, unless an drop-in clinic has been scheduled.
